My Approach to Therapy
I am a Nationally Certified Counselor who has a passion for working with those who have experienced trauma. I work with clients primarily from a person-centered, empowerment, and holistic perspective. I believe it is imperative to view the person, and all parts of their life, as interconnected and whole. Trauma has a way of making us feel as if we are alone, not believed, and have lost our power and control. I believe people have innate resilience, can regain control, and heal from their traumatic experiences.
Samantha received her Bachelor of Arts in French and Francophone Studies, with minors in Psychology and International Studies from the Pennsylvania State University in 2012. She continued her studies at Penn State and earned a Master of Education in Counselor Education in 2014. In addition to working as a therapist, Samantha currently works for a Penn State branch campus as an Academic Advisor.
Samantha has experience working with individuals ages 4 and up in various settings. Upon completing graduate school, Samantha began working for Progressions Companies, a community mental health agency, with elementary-school aged children as a behavioral health worker in school and in the home. She later began working as an Outpatient Therapist for the same company in Pottstown where she provided counseling to individuals ages 4 and up.
In 2016, Samantha began working for Victim Services Center of Montgomery County, Inc. where she worked with victims of crime as a counselor and advocate. It was there where she solidified her passion in providing counseling to those who have experienced trauma. She continues to volunteer for the agency today.
Samantha’s goal is to help clients begin and continue to heal and work through their traumatic experiences. She also works to help clients feel empowered and regain control in their lives. Samantha believes that all clients have the power in themselves to heal and move forward.
When Samantha is not working, Samantha enjoys reading, practicing yoga, mastering cooking and baking skills and traveling. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family and is a proud Penn State alum.
